Crappy week
I've been working crazy hours the past couple of months and it's really starting to get to me. I'm moving in a month and have done very little preparation, and *that's* getting to me. I've seen my girlfriend a total of about 20 hours in the past 2 months, and *that's* getting to me. Fortunately, the crunch mode was due to stop tonight, the move would soon be over, and for the first time in a while, I'd actually be living in the same city with Annie.

But, when I get a call last Thursday morning that my grandfather, one of the most amazing people I've ever known, is in surgery, then later that day that he didn't make it... well, let's just say it didn't help.

So, I spent this past weekend in Jersey. During the service, when my uncle got up and spoke and said that grandpa discovered his true calling when I was born (as I was the first of seven grandchildren), I pretty much lost it.

Thankfully, I have a very supportive family (for the most part... one of them *did* lay a big, fat guilt trip on me the night of grandpa's funeral... bah), and we spent most of the weekend reminiscing and laughing at better times.
Of course, the second day there, I somehow injured my foot... most likely a stress fracture. Not good when, like I said, I'm due to move in a month.

Oh, and when I get back to the office this morning, I find out that the publish date has been pushed back a week and I'll likely be crunching for another week.

And tomorrow's my birthday.

And I miss him.

Badly.

Man, what a bum week :( Sorry to hear the bad news.

But Happy Birthday to you!

Take care of your foot. See a doctor. Listen to said doctor ;)

It won't last forever. Pretty soon you'll be in a very euphoric place with much to explore, and the comfort of Annie to bask in.

And damn will you feel like you deserved it then.

Meantime do something different, something for yourself, break the routine during crunch so it won't seem so unending.

If that doesn't work... shit I don't know, start hallucinating in your spare time and buck for a section 8?

I'm so sorry. if you need anything, let me know. kind people were good enough to help me pack when I moved, so if you need some extra hands (or feet) I'm there.
